The Making of Great Public Speaker
On my thirteenth birthday my parents had given me a ticket to see my all time favorite female athlete. She was going to talk about her life and the journey she took to become successful. At thirteen years old, I felt like I had just received a Nobel Prize. On the day of the talk, I sat front row, and I was ready to become inspired and motivated to becoming a successful athlete. Instead, the speaker walked out with a piece of crinkled paper. I was drowned into boredom. The speaker went on and on about absolutely nothing. I left that auditorium that day not only disappointed but also motivated. I was motivated to never become her, to never stand in front of an audience and put them to sleep. Public speaking

However, that is not I. I am motivated to become to best me I can possibly be. I use to believe average was accepted and everyone loved the average guy. But then I realized nobody ever remembers average, they remember greatness. Whether I am in the classroom or on the field I am motivated to be a standout, to be remembered. In the journey to becoming a great public speaker, I will need to stay motivate to drive myself to become great. Without motivation, people lose interest quickly and began to forget what they were trying to do. Mia Hamm, the best women’s soccer player to ever step onto the field, exemplified how far motivation can bring someone. It was 1999, right before The Women’s World Cup Championship, in a press conference, Mia Hamm says, “I’ve worked too hard and too long to let anything standing my way of my goals. I will not let my teammates down, and I will not let myself down.” Mia Hamm wrote the novel “Go for the Goal”, where she describes the two key aspects to become a success athlete and those are motivation and mental toughness. Motivation is the key to success and the key to becoming remembered. Motivation will drive me to becoming a great public

Coach Wooden, in this reading, teaches me and many others who read how you can’t just wish for success, being successful is something you have to work at every day. Also, not only working everyday like getting more practice and more repetition, that is not what Coach Wooden is trying to teach here he teaches that being successful comes from inside. He explains how in order to be successful you have to have traits like loyalty, self control, confidence, cooperation, and of course skill. Reading about Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success is really something I agree with 100%, I am not sure if it is because I am also an athlete so I am able to relate to his motivation and his way of words. I mainly agree, because he is right about all that he says everything he mentions in the pyramid are all things you not only need to be a successful athlete, but to be a successful person which is why I agree with what Coach Wooden has to say so much, because anyone can read this book and learn from it not just…

This new Nanette wants to be free and genuinely happy, which seems to drive her throughout the whole story. I always try my best in everything I do because I believe that the best preparation for tomorrow is doing my best today. I remember when I was young I always procrastinate things which results me to pass an “Okay na ‘yan, basta meron” kind of work. That attitude leads to a life full of comparison. I was being compared with my brother and classmates. Even if I was an honor student, people always told me that I am far below from my brother (who is also an honor student) and my other classmates are better, nicer, smarter, and other painful comparisons.…

When Grendel states, “Tedium is the worst pain” (138), he portrays his pain stems from his lack of things to do and his boredom. Stating “tedium” shows how he is always bored because he literally has nothing to do every day. His tedium only intensifies that he does not have anything significant in his life and is continued in the story as he states, “In my cave, the tedium is worse, of course. My mother no longer shows any sign of sanity, hurrying back and forth, wall to wall, sometimes on two legs, sometimes on four.” (145). The only thing that Grendel can interact with, in the cave, is his mother and she is slowly going into insanity.…

The individual who had once wanted to become a competitive cheerleader and dedicate all her time to learning to tumble no longer felt passionate. As my aspirations diminished, I began to struggle to identify what it was that motivated me. My anger that stemmed from being on a team that neglected to practice became my downfall as I began to acquire demerits, but it was those very moments in which I began to see my leadership skills flourish. Recalling my last moments of cheer camp for the last time, I remembered as they herded us aside like a group of cattle, calling upon all those that would be seniors and all those that were captains and co-captains. Our cheer camp instructors began to explain the importance of accepting leadership roles even when they weren’t granted to us.…
