This product is what the group found thousands of miles off shore, in the middle of no-where. The toxic effects of plastics are not totally known but the group is finding that due to the small pieces it is difficult to see. Fish are attracted to the white or colored “nurdles”, possibly thinking it is fish eggs or food of some kind. The plastics are ingested and the toxicity is transferred to the fish tissue and magnifies up the food chain. Any oceanic animal that filters the ocean water through their system is affected by the plastics that have been broken down by UV rays into smaller and smaller pieces. Many of the harmful effects are impacting the endocrine systems of the ocean animals. Third world countries have no clue regarding the harmful effects of the plastics and how disposal is contributing to the pollution or the production is contributing to the pollution of plastic in our oceans. The group focuses on the impact plastics are having on the environment and what just one person changing the way they view “plastic” can do to make a difference. Change begins with a conscious
