There are several aspects to education. Leadership is one aspect and crucial to the functionality of school organizations. A leader is anyone possessing the knowledge and skills in providing guidance in overcoming concerns. It is the ability to lead that makes leadership essential. Theories provide explanations on what effectiveness looks like within leadership and who along with what it takes to be a leader. Theories like the Greater Man/Trait Theory, collective leadership, and scholar-practitioner shed light upon leadership and effectiveness. The Great Man Theory is a 19th century concept encompassing the thought that leaders are born not made. Before The Great Man Theory, researchers studied personality traits in search of what it takes to be a leader. This trait approach later converged to the Great Man Theory. The main objective becomes the thought of having the right questions rather than the right answer. Freire describes the theory as having specific skills, disposition, and beliefs that nurture intersects with spaces and conditions of change at praxis. A dynamic space on the praxis is where ideas, practices, theories, and people intersect. This is space where leadership navigates. Under collective leadership or theory of change, the role of a teacher, facilitator, or leader is to help participants and institutions find rhythm in maximizing the opportunity for participation and engagement. There is an understanding of self and model of process for redistributing or negotiating traditional power dynamics; for which, a leader is transparent and understanding of his or her story. Collective leadership creates self-reflection facilitating dynamic self-analysis. A continuous development of individuals and teams creates reality and interdependence; for which, interdependence nurtures spirit of collaboration, crossing boundaries, and public service to communities and
