At first, Pip and Joe were good friends, since they both were treated the same from Mrs. Joe. Neither one of them were very intelligent, so Mrs. Joe treated them like nothing, nevertheless, they were both okay and continent with their lives. Then he finds out that Estella went to London for school and was no longer living with Miss Havisham. Then Pip goes to London for school and tries to catch up with her, but never really does. He thinks that Miss Havisham is the one that gave him the money, so he could marry Estella.
