Status: Threatened
Conservation Efforts: Currently humans use great egret feathers in clothing and accessories, which has lead to a decline of populations. The CESA makes it illegal to import, export, “take”, possess, purchase, sell, or attempt to do any of those actions to species that are designated as threatened, endangered. “take” is defined as “hunt, pursue, catch, capture, or kill, or attempt to hunt, pursue, catch, capture, or kill.”
Physical Description: The great egret is a tall, long-legged bird that has a curved neck and a short tail. It has a long yellowish-orange beak, flawless white feathers and bold black long,skinny legs.
Behavior: The great egret walks on shallow water in order to hunt fish, frogs, and other small aquatic
