Every era has something special which makes that era different from the rest. Sometime the things are positive and other times things are negative which effects people life. Similar to that happened from 1929-1932. This era was called the great depression, the reason it was called great depression was because American economy was badly devastated in this time.US gross domestic product fell almost by half, from $103 billion to 58 billion (696). GDP plays a vital role in any country development and in people freshen GDP drops to almost half compare to its pass level. That is a big hit on a country and it is very hard to recover from it. People were in horrible condition. There was no money flow in the society people had nothing to spend so that they can buy items for their necessity. Condition so bad that “Salt Lake City ran out of money. barbers traded haircuts for onions and Idaho potatoes (696). In the beginning people were not also respecting a lot from him too because of horrible economy. But there was something different in Roosevelt then previous president. “Roosevelt personal charm, political savvy and willingness to experiment made him immensely popular and far more effective than Hoover” (700). Roosevelt was brave and smart. Instead of going defensive on economy and trying to save everything he went opposite way. He went on according mode by telling people to spend and spending funds in the economy. His idea was that we already lost most of it. So, he was not worried about anything more.
