Greaser Time Quotes

Decent Essays
Choose a sentence or phrase that you feel is very important to the development of the story. Explain how and why this quote is crucial to the plot, theme, characters etc. The phrase I picked out was, “You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still a lot of good in the world.” The reason this quote is crucial to this story is this quote defies what S.E. Hinton wanted the story to teach us. You don’t have to be what the world tells you to be. When Johnny wrote this quote to Ponyboy, Johnny was telling Ponyboy that he doesn’t have to be a greaser, he could be whatever he wanted to be. Johnny knew Ponyboy could do some good in the world and Johnny didn’t want Ponyboy to waste his potential by being a greaser.
