Gravity: Ryan Stone And Matt Kowalsky

In the the movie Gravity Ryan Stone and her partner Matt Kowalsky are pushed to the limits to save their lives. After Matt sacrifices his own life to keep Ryan alive she is then forced to continue the journey back to Earth alone. Although Ryan does not have much to live for, her will to live allows her to strive to keep living for herself and her partner Matt. All of Ryan’s persistence and her will to live gets her back to Earth safely although she lost the life of her friend, Matt. The movie Gravity uses Ryan Stone’s near death experiences throughout the movie to display the value of Ryan’s life. Ryan shows her will to live by venturing further into danger after the debris destroys the shuttle to save herself and Matt. As the shuttle is destroyed, Ryan and Matt tether themselves together. The cooperation shown by Matt and Ryan show that their will to survive is still high although they will most likely not make it back to Earth. …show more content…
The climax of the movie is met at the point where Ryan enters the Chinese spacecraft. Reaching the spacecraft took all of her knowledge, power and strength but Ryan knew that she had to do this to remember the name of her friend Matt. The spacecraft does not have English instructions and Ryan continues to try to decode the control panel to save her life and return to Earth. Decoding the Chinese control panel is a difficult obstacle for Ryan to overcome, but after realizing all the sacrifices and lives that had been lost, she knows that she cannot let all of the lives be forgotten. Finally Ryan reaches Earth with her last obstacle of swimming to the land where she knows she will be able to live even if it means living alone. Her final push for survival was the biggest obstacle she faced and Ryan knew that even though her own will to live was not great she knew that she had to continue to remember the lives and sacrifices made for her survival
