Graveyard Book Essay

There are so many parts in the Graveyard book that I think are hilarious, but there are some funny parts in the Graveyard book that are my favorite. So I decided to share a couple of my favorite funny parts in the Graveyard book. The first one is when Bod escapes his crib and he goes down the stairs on his bottom, in the book it say’s “His diaper had worked itself loose on his way down the stairs and when he got down the stairs the diaper fell off ”. Maybe that is not as funny to someone else, but I think that is hilarious. What made me laugh was Bods reaction “ow no biggy.” Another part that I think is really funny in the book is when Mrs. Owens asked Mr. Owens if he would be the father of Bod and Mr. Owen's response was... “Will I what”.

The most important holiday in Mexico is the Day of the Dead, El Día de Los Muertos. Surprisingly, this holiday is anything but depressing. In the weeks before, Mexicans excitedly prepare to welcome the souls of the dead, who come back each year to visit the living. From October 31 through November 2 this year, I attended this fiesta with my roommate Manuel. By sharing Day of the Dead activities in his family’s home, in the marketplace, and in a cemetery, I have observed that Mexicans, unlike other North Americans, accept and celebrate death as a part of life.…

For many people, death is one of the scariest things they will have to face. Why? Because they do not know what will happen after they die; will they go to Heaven, or will they be reincarnated? The question of what happens after death is a common theme expressed through many works of literature, such as Obasan by Joy Kogawa, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, “The Open Boat” by Stephen Crane, and the poem “At the River Clarion” by Mary Oliver.…
