Revenants in the woods . in the story “Gravediggers, Mountain of bones “ These kids (PJ, Ian ,and Kendra) that have some differences get lost in one of the most dangerous woods . Trying to find a way back to camp they realise that something was sketchy and once they think they're safe they soon become surrounded by the walking dead.Trying to escape these “think” using this no good book they lose their fried to the zombies.Or so they thought,but the warrant (protector) takes him before the zombies can . When they meet back up there friend has destroyed the one thing keeping them save , so they had to destroy all these zombie and then made it back to camp .Just one surprise came up …. In the book Christopher Krovatin ,the author, uses suspense from the calm period before the attacks and just leaving you no choice but to turn the next page. An example of suspense from the book is [ “the vines snap sending PJ to his death” (page 170)]. This is an example of suspense because it leaves you wondering if that is really the end of PJ , in the middle of this book ratted for eight to twelve year olds .
The next reason that showcases this books horror qualities is the use of paranormal creatures . Obviously the book title “Gravediggers , mountain of bones” kind of hits that there will be some type of paranormal activity in the book which was revenants , or zombies. Some evidence from paranormal activity from the book is [“we were attacked by zombies”(page 128)]. This is a clear example of the existence of the paranormal because zombies are paranormal creature .
The horror genre is filled with many different things and has a variety of definitions . In the book “gravediggers, the mountain of bones” the other uses getting lost in the woods infested with zombies as its horror factor , but there are tons of other things that make a horror book a horror book . Some examples can range from ghosts to monsters to witches ,or just anythings that is unknown or never really heard of .In conclusion the thing that makes a horror book is its ability to scare or spook you in some way .
