The strength I chose for this experiential activity was gratitude. I decided on this strength because I believe that when you focus on the all of the things you have in life as opposed to all of the things you don't have your perception of the world around you becomes much more positive and you become aware of many opportunities throughout the day that you would not have noticed had you been thinking of things in a more negative light. When it came to using my signature strength of gratitude differently everyday some days I would closing my eyes and count each breath I took and began to think about all of the people in my life that support me such as family and friends, and on other days when I noticed that I would get into a cycle of negative …show more content…
The hardest aspect of this activity was coming up with a completely different way I could use my strength and that method was to very sincerely express my gratitude to people who had done things for me no matter how small. For example, when my girlfriend helped me unpack my things and get organized again after our road trip this past weekend I made firm eye contact with her and told her how deeply thankful I was for her assistance in getting ready for the upcoming school week and the next morning brought her a bagel for breakfast before her 10 A.M. …show more content…
I think that self-regulation is second to gratitude in the order of strengths I posses and I think it would be very useful to use in an activity like this one. The different ways that I would use my strength of self-regulation would be really paying attention to the food that I eat everyday and how much of it I am eating. Other ways that I could use this strength are recognizing when I am stressed and what I am stressed about and making sure that I am not overworking my body, and that I am giving it the attention that it needs to properly

Looking over the directions on how to complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment it sounded like another psychological analysis into our minds to track the way we think (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). It reminded me of a test given by major companies to a candidate for an available position to see what made you tick or find out if you would steal from them or go postal on the whole company. But to my surprise I actually learned something about myself, things that came natural to me to the point of not really paying any attention to them. According to this assessment my top strength is Strategic which does make sense to me when I started to review the results printed out on my report.…

During those times I realized that I am built for this. It was during the hard times that I thought about all of my failures in life. All the times I missed notes, missed baskets, or didn’t hit the ball over the net. More importantly I thought about my intentionality and purpose during those moments I realized that all of the little lessons I learned while participating in all of these activities would add up and lead to greater opportunities. Opportunities to improve, to learn, to grow, but more importantly to become a better person.…
