In the graphic design industry, communication is key to a successful project, but how can you succeed when the client doesn’t communicate appropriately? Every graphic designer will have to deal with a client who can’t express what he or she wants the product to be. We’ve all heard that saying: “The client is always right”, but sometimes they’re not. This is why communication with the client is so important; arguing with them is not the solution to the problem. There are 3 types of clients: the bossy ones, the “only can be done my way”, and the one’s who don’t know what they’re talking about. These types of clients are what make the industry so hard to work for. A graphic designer is someone who “works with drawn, painted, photographed, or computer-generated images (pictures).” They work with these types of images to convey a message to a particular audience. According to studentscholarship.org, there are currently 286,100 people who are graphic designers. A graphic Designer uses different types of tools to convey the message they want to the people. One thing that they don’t teach you is how to handle these types of clients. When your job depends on getting contracts to make money, most people will handle and tolerate almost anything to get the contract. Freelance Graphic Design can be difficult, especially when they don’t know where the next paycheck will come from. This is why Graphic Designers choose to work with these types of clients. Put yourself in their position, you need to make money, but the only way you can is by working for someone you don’t want to. It sounds counter productive to work in these types of conditions, but it is something that you will have to encounter if you’re going to become a Graphic
