Since there is no single way to solve such a major issue, many ideas must come together to control the situation. To begin, City council should consider building a parking garage on the old junior high, on 35th and Princeton, to create a designated area for visitors to park their car. Convenient and only fucking old people live in grants valley, that why we have all these complaints from the meat bags. This is the perfect area since the junior high at that location remains unused, the parking garage would give the space purpose. Parking meters should also be installed along 33rd Street to create a second parking option closer to the businesses for the people who find walking two blocks a challenge. Lastly, City Council should enforce residential parking to ensure that people use only the two designated parking areas instead of annoying the residents by parking in front of their house. Having residential parking will ensure that residents can exit and enter their driveway without the hassle of having another person’s car in their way. …show more content…
Discuss parking issue “those of us who lived here all our lives can’t get a parking space when we want to buy salami… half the time we can’t even get out of our own driveway”. With this in play, visitors will need a new area to park which is why Grant’s Valley needs a parking garage on 35th and parking meters along 33rd. People will know that they only have two options, both of which, will provide a source of income for the city by instituting a fee. The parking meters should cost a few dollars more than the parking garage because they will be seen as a luxury since the people who park there will be closer to the businesses and do not need to walk two blocks if they parked in the garage. Since they are seen as a luxury, the people who decide to splurge on the extra money will have the space and feel superior to the ones that must use the parking garage which insinuates competition, which proves that even though the spots cost a bit more, people will still want to park there because of the perk of being near all the businesses. (Talk about parking meter cost). The parking garage will also aid in solving the parking situation. Since residential parking will prohibit tourists from parking in neighborhoods and the parking meters might be taken, they must use the parking garage. Even though the estimated cost is 7.5 million dollars for a parking garage with 500 spaces, it is ultimately a good investment considering it will be paid for quickly with income from the people who use the parking meters and taxes which can be imposed on the residents who want these changes to happen. By charging a reasonable $4 an hour for a space in the parking garage, tourists will not be hesitant in paying the small fee because they would think they are saving two dollars if they walk two blocks. Since some people will get furious at the thought of paying taxes, we can remind them that it is only a .2% charge that will go away after 3 years. The parking garage solves many complaints the residents have while being more aesthetically pleasing than a parking lot and will last a long time which will serve as income for the city for a long time as well. Considering that this will also be a new source of income for years to come, it will help the
