Granny smith apples are tangy, tart, and sweet apples known for their green color. They are most commonly found in California, and are increasingly abundant in the more mountainous regions. They are most ¬¬¬¬recognized for their acidity; like most apples are known for. Unlike most apples, however, granny smiths have one of the lowest pHs -????. This is because of their incredibly high acid content. Along with being abundant in sweet desserts and dishes, granny smith apples can help prevent some disorders associated with obesity. They can help lower the amount of harmful acid in the colon, (Kantor, 2014)

Malic acid (C4H6O5) occurs naturally in various foods, including grapes, bananas, and tamarinds, but it is most commonly found in apples.
