Grandpa Told Me Now

Being a 17 year old can be extremely stressful with school, sports, clubs, and out of school activities. Luckily, music is a wonderful way to relieve the day's tension. Listening to music is an easy way to stay calm, and can also make you think about old memories. Songs such as “Hawaii” by The Beach Boys “Grandpa Told Me So” by Kenny Chesney and “Breakeven” by The Script all have impacted my life greatly. These songs are capable of bringing back memories from my past, both good and bad.
The title of The Beach Boys classic song “Hawaii” helps me reflect on my family’s large trip to Hawaii. Usually every year my family and I go on a summer vacation, but this trip was an extreme. I remember as a child his homemade cinnamon rolls. I also remember at Christmas time, I was never allowed to go into a certain room because “the elves were working”. Never once did I go into that room because grandpa told me so. “Grandpa Told Me So” is the title that accurately represents my feelings for my grandpa. Going through his death changed my life and the way that I look at life. “The best love is the love that you give” is the line that I believe represents my grandpa, being the giver that he was.
The final event that happened in my life happened when I was in the second grade at a birthday party. The song “Breakeven” by The Script represents this event because I shattered my wrist while roller skating. “I’m falling to pieces” is one of the lyrics in this song and my wrist was literally falling to pieces at this moment. I had to have three casts and one surgery to fix this break adding up to many medical bills. I am still friends with the girl who was throwing the birthday party, and apologized for ruining her birthday party. To this day I have yet to roller skate after this horrid
