Reflections of 2016 – It’s Been A Grand Year
It 's been our pleasure of introducing to the Villages community to the talented, the brave, those generous and adventurous, supportive and sharing and maybe most important, those in love and with humor. It 's been a rich year to have those conversations that have persuaded interest and inspired service to other and ourselves.
Our introduction of the Villages Scarlet Sirens in February, modeled after the one of the world 's largest women 's social group, The Red Hat Society is where we had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous ladies and to see their red vintage fedoras. This small local group provides a means to support and socialize with each other. They invite all ladies of the Villages community …show more content…
"We wanted to live in a country atmosphere, that offered a lot of amenities and services and this is perfect for us", Bob said. "Being an avid golfer is an added plus!" He added. Bob 's passion is for the less fortunate, primarily focusing on the homeless in Santa Clara County. Bob and Kathleen also spend their time volunteering. That 's how he met his lovely wife.
As we moved into April, we traveled throughout the country with Elizabeth Giarratana. As the Captain of the Starship Doodlebug, we had a unique look at the country. Although her story was outside the Villages gates, it began in the Village with her husband of fifty-one year. A journey she always wanted to take with her husband, but could only take us instead. From the tour of Amelia Earhart 's home to the Chautauqua Institute in New York, we met friends and faces only she could share with us.
Later, in June, we had the pleasure of meeting bay area native CeCe and Jeff Slavich, one of the Villages ' most recent residents at that time. Like many before, they chose the Villages because of the availability of activities and security of the community. Jeff is a fifth wheeling road worrier and business owner in San Jose. Located on Stevens Creek, he offers superior automotive service at his shop, Tires Unlimited and for his friends and neighbors, he offers additional service of pick-up and drop-off. You surely don 't hear that offer
