Grand Valley Reflection

Decent Essays
The story I have chosen for reflection was completed as an assignment for CMJ 256, the story was a report on an event during final exam week when the therapy canines visited the students. Moreover, in the story I wanted to put a spotlight on the trainers and their dedication on using animal therapy by making it accessible not only to students during finals week but year around; such as hospitals, airports, and even in prisons. Things that could make the story better is having photos or a video of the event that shows how the canines are able distract students from a stressful time and refresh. Additionally, I could have cited sources that have graphics and scientific studies that were done to make a point of why Grand Valley has this event.

Detaching myself from the world around me to look in as a third party exposed the culture I have been raised into. To complete this assignments I went to Mirror Lake on campus to observe and document the social behaviors I witnessed. I recorded over a two day span. I first sat by the northern side of the lake on the stone fence, to be aloof from what was transpiring in front of me. The second day I sat on the western side on the grass under the trees to get right in the middle of what was happening.…

Throughout the book, Walls endured many struggles while traveling with her dysfunctional family. Jeannette’s father is constantly getting in the way of her success, from stealing her money to not always making her go to school. Eventually, she leaves her parents behind and makes her way to New York City, where she goes to college and finds success. Similar to how Jeannette had to overcome the obstacles between her and her success, her parents in The Glass Castle, I had to overcome the obstacle between me and my success, my bones.…

The Guatemalan center in Lake worth is a prime example of other institution doing the same through lending a hand to understand assimilate these individuals into our civilization. Since sophomore year, I’ve been involved in the school’s peer mediation program. It is a very valuable program in the school, so for my senior project I wanted to learn more about it as well as expand it by recruiting underclassmen and leading mediation trainings. The steps involved in planning this project included meeting with my mentor several times a week to discuss recruiting strategies and to plan trainings that I would be leading.…

Also realized the importance of motivation and external locus of control to help achieve the desired outcome.…
