Grand Lake: A Short Story

My friend Sophie and I were in Grand Lake. It was a gorgeous day and it happened to be July 4, we saw people jump of the dock into the deep, deep lake. Memorized Sophie said, “I want to that later today.” As you may guess that’s where the trouble begins.
Soon it was midafternoon and people were set up for the firework demonstration. The same people were still flying off the dock making Sophie want to do it more and more. Each time I saw them scream as they hit the water I wanted to scream with them.

Don’t forget to bring towels so you do not get sick and cold.”
I had to say something but I did not want to be rude so as an alternative I said, “Don’t grab my bathing suit.” With that I gazed at her.
It felt like a hour went by so, I called her, but she didn’t answer. I knew Sophie was up to something. I hoped that she was not going to do something to make me jump off the dock.
During that time, my mom was making me feel bad for not wanting to go off the quay. She said stuff like, “You know Elizah you should do some things Sophie wants to. It might be enjoyable but you wouldn’t know because you didn’t do it.” My mother also said things like, “If I were you I would want to jump off the dock.”
So, I tried to call Sophie again but she didn’t answer. Then all of a sudden, I see her walking towards the tent. All I see is her holding my glowing bathing suit, and she has a grin on her face.
When Sophie finally gets to us her grin disappears and turns into a demanding voice, “You’re going with us whether you like it or not!”
I assumed that she was trying to make me feel jealous. So I went to change because I couldn’t handle

It all began during the summer of 2015. I had just taken my beat- up fossil of a john- boat off of Gun Lake to fish in a different lake, and were going to put it back on Gun Lake at my grandparent’s house. We vaulted into what we called the “Rhino”, a quad equipped with a driver’s and passenger’s seat.…
