Graffiti: Lack Of Nature In New York City

Improved Essays
Graffiti is a form of art used to convey a person's independent thought. I believe that the painter of the graffiti I chose wanted to associate the flower to the lack of nature of New York City. New York City sometimes referred to as the capital of the world. The city has a low concentration of nature. Nature can only be found in places such as Central Park or Battery park, but even there you can see the lack of nature considering everything is so organized and nicely placed, a clear evidence of human touch. New York City should have more nature around and in it. More nature around would give the city life, natural life. The graffiti I picked is a plain white flower painted on a dark green board. The flower is short and almost invincible

Arguably, the three most important documents in American history--the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and The Declaration of Independence--can be found at The Rotunda of the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C.. In 1776, America’s Founding Fathers signed The Declaration of Independence, explaining their desire for separation from Great Britain. Among other privileges, The Declaration of Independence guarantees Americans “certain unalienable rights” such as “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Consequently, immigrants seeking basic rights and freedoms come to America. Once these needs are met, people can pursue The American Dream, an ideal where Americans have equal opportunity to reach their goals through hard work and…

Graffiti: How Shepard Fairey changed the world of Street Art It's 11 o'clock on Gratz Street, North Philadelphia. A hooded figure darts across the street, and runs up to an abandoned row-home, pulling out a can of spray paint. He nervously looks both ways, eyes scanning the street corners, before spraying the paint across the barren concrete wall. His message: one of defiance, against the status quo, against everything he believes has held him back in life.…

Flowers in the context of the watermark represent Ruth’s life in her home. Her life is dull because her family lacks familial love. Ruth also is deprived of sexual love, but she still clings on to Macon, her husband. Flowers don’t have the capability to leave, so they are patient and still, and wait for love and care in order to grow. The flower shows that Ruth is complacent and is using her motherly right to force herself live in a household where she is unhappy and deprived of many rights, showing that women are weak when it comes to independence over…

On Saturday, February, 23rd I attend to a unique and spectacular Art District in the city of Miami located north of Downtown and Overtown. Wynwood Arts District is one of the most colossal “open-air street art installations in the world.” It divides between two sub-districts, the Wynwood Art District in northern Wynwood, and the Wynwood Fashion District. This was a district of warehouses and factories. All the warehouses, factories and unused buildings were transformed in several galleries, art complexes, restaurants, and innovative business of all types experiencing a big success here.…

In Marcia Brown’s article “Maine’s First Graffiti Artist,” Mike Rich was inspired by the beauty, creativity, and anonymity of graffiti. He has dedicated his life to this art form to allow people to see the beauty behind graffiti by using it for “positive messaging.” When Mike was 11, he was creating traditional art, but started painting graffiti to get away from the simplistic traditional art. Mike’s first most recognized mural was done with a team of 7 other artists that came together to paint a 1,500 square foot mural of the word “Portland” in all capital letters on the back wall of an asylum nightclub. This adventure has become the “brainchild” for Mike.…

Into the World Came a Soul Called Ida is a painting by Ivan Albright. The painting is about a young woman fearing the hands of time, and how, one day, she will die alone and be forgotten. In the painting it is clear that the woman is old, however, the person that Ivan Albright modeled Ida after was a young woman of the same name, so his intention could have been for the viewer to see Ida not as herself, but as an aged version created by her mind. This painting could be a view into the psyche of Ida, a beautiful young woman, and through this glimpse, we can see everything that she fears about her future: growing old and grisly, then dying alone with no money or possessions.…

Graffiti was once labeled as street art which was frequently a prominent problem in urban cities; defacing or “tagging” public and private property was against the law. As time as evolved, so has the street art culture. Today, street art is one of most sought after and creative outlets for local artists. The culture around street art can be interesting in the fact that artists build their names and reputation with one piece of work at a time; sometimes when it starts to take over the city it gets the attention it has been wanting. Street art is now very innovative featuring many different art styles and often makes a commentary on a social issue and if it does not, then it was created to help change the city.…
