Graffiti is used to help poor and deformed cities and neighborhoods look more fun and a pleasure to look at. In the article “Graffiti is All in the Eye of Beholder” it reports, “Graffiti on abandoned buildings makes the city look better...graffiti is visual communication that has a uniquely personal voice and is made with seriousness of intent...as such, it is art,” (Greenwood, 2011). Citizens believe that graffiti helps make a boring city look colorful and beautiful. It helps attract the public to come and view the tagger’s work of art just like how some museums have. Daniel Wood, author of the article “Los Angeles Turns Cameras on Gang Graffiti”, points out, “...they wish the city would spend the money to teach taggers how to paint and be more creative...and to reopen areas such as Venice Beach where graffiti artists once had spaces to paint legally.” (Wood, 2007). Even local groups and campaigns like the “Clean Up the D” have been made to assist in the removal of the graffiti. These people believe that graffiti makes their towns and neighborhoods looks more trashy than it already is which is why they want it to be removed. But what they do not understand is that those who vandalize property and tag their names, are only kids who just started doing graffiti. They do not know any better to not spray paint on someone’s property. But even if some people do not like the thought of having someone paint on their property, others hire and seek our graffiti artists to help
