In order for Graeter’s to maintain a high level of success and grow in the future the company will need to continue to focus on capital and human resources. Recently Graeter’s opened a factory to keep up with the demand of product after Graeter’s began selling their ice cream in supermarket chain Kroger’s. While an additional factory currently in the works, if Graeter’s wants to expand, selling their product in grocery chains across the U.S., more capital resources such as factories, machinery and tools will be a must. In order to maintain a competitive edge Graeter’s will also need to continue to focus heavily on human resources. Producing ice cream in small batches and hand packing every gallon takes a great physical contribution from employees. To expand Graeter’s will need to hire more staff to stay true to its high quality product. The company has also done a great job over the years of expanding its human resources through intellect and creativity. In 2005 Graeter’s trusted Tom Kunzelman, the first person from outside the family, with ice cream production. Kenzelman brought to the company thirty-five years of consumer packaging experience from Dannon, Heinz and Anheuser Bush. Graeter’s embraced the technological environment with the addition of online ordering, allowing customers from forty-eight states the ability to enjoy Grater’s ice cream. In 2002, Graeter’s gained great success in the competitive environment when Oprah announced, Graeter’s was the best ice cream she had ever tasted. Graeter’s shipped ten times the normal amount the day after Oprah’s statement.
