Weakness Of English

When I first signed up for the class I expected the structure and content to be like any other typical general education class, however, I was wrong. I came into the class with an abundant amount of personal goals to increase my writing and general English skills and I received far more than I could have asked for. English has always been a troubling subject for me to pick up on and understand in high school so my expectations were bleak. However, I am happy that I was wrong because my skills have been refined way more than I expected specifically development in content analysis, and writing style. The creator and writers of the channel are both English majors with MBA’s in Journalism and I admire their extremely unique writing style. How to Write with Style Everyone has his or her own writing style, and some writing styles are considerably more distinct than others; however, anyone’s writing style can and should be improved over time. There really is no one specific or perfect way to write because everyone has different opinions on what is well written and what is poorly written, so it is important to alter one’s style so as to capture the attention of very different audiences. Kurt Vonnegut, an amazingly talented author from the 20th century, wrote an essay entitled “How to Write with Style” which gives excellent techniques on how to better anyone’s writing style. Each of his techniques has an explanation as to why they should be used, and he uses each of them in his essay.…

I wasn’t required to actually take your English class; however, the class was a good start at getting back into writing and bias analysis in literature. Completing rhetorical analyses defiantly needed a scrub down and cleared the dust off of my eyes. I wouldn’t say that my overall English writing had improved in this course, but that is not to say that it was useless for me. Exposure to writings that irked me and writing about them pushed me out of my comfort zone, forcing me to try to find a middle ground on emotional bias in my writings.…
