Throughout my life there have been obstacles that have knocked me down and made me want to give up. What made me get up? The word of my mother saying, “I want you to do great in life and be the person who you want to be. While you are reaching success, don’t lose yourself, and don’t let anybody get in your way. Of course there have been obstacles that we’re thrown at me, such as financial issues, family issues and how my life would be like when I graduate. Those issues in my life with the same words of my mom in my head and with the help of my academic advisors of Upward Bound didn’t stop me. I’m planning to attend TCC to take my basics and transfer to Texas Woman’s University. Home of the Pioneers! There I will be taking classes to become a pediatric nurse. Just like High School I would have issues along the way and get used to how college is. This summer I will be applying for the opportunity to take classes at TCC provided from Upward Bound. I will be taking advantage of that opportunity and do my very best. Also in my future I plan to join the soccer team at Texas Woman’s. Soccer has been in my life ever since I was a little kid. I was in the varsity soccer team at Castleberry High School and received the superlative award for Mid Newcomer in the 7-4A Girls Soccer District. Because of the awards and the rush, playing soccer never made me quit. My coach told us “Respect all, Fear None”. This means to respect your opponents and never fear your opponents. That quote helped me get through soccer season without giving up or being afraid. I will remember about that quotes when I play college soccer. With those goals and quotes in my mind I can achieve anything and never give

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

Good Morning Abigail! I first wan to comment on your first paragraph. I agree with you and I think it is important as future human service workers that we understand the trauma people are faced with. Personal statement The year 2004 marked a time in my family’s history in which we took a substantial step forward by coming to the United States. Before that, we lived through and experienced a lot of unspeakable things. Originating in Somalia, my parents understood that it was a place where nothing could be achieved. Civil war broke out, devastating hundreds upon thousands of lives, including several of my family members. Corruption infected the government, military, and all forms of law enforcement.…

Michael Jordan once said, “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Being born to two immigrants, who have never completed college, and growing up in a low-income family of six individuals, I have faced nothing but a myriad of obstacles in my life. Although at times I have struggled to overcome these challenges, I have always persevered and pushed past each one with my determination to be the best I can be, which has matured me into the young adult I am today.…

I have chosen to apply to the University of Central Florida because it will provide great opportunities out of school and while I’m still in school. Another reason I have chosen to apply is because it is far enough away from home to where I can gain my independence and find who I am without my parents around and because it is close enough to where in the event of an emergency I can still be home fairly quickly. In my life there has been multiple obstacles/bumps in the road in both my academic and personal life. Staring with my academic obstacles, both my elementary and middle school were not the best and left me with many gaps in my education, such as in math and science.…

George Washington Carver once said that "Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom. " It is of that same principle that I am in college today. I was instilled with the mindset that being educated would open a lot of doors and bring about a lot of opportunities for me. The desire I have to read and write not only brought me to study English, but also the vast knowledge and artistry that comes along with it. The world has evolved remarkably over the past few centuries.…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

I believe that life is not easy, but I can not give up. When I fail in something and I give up, I will not be successful because I stopped pursuing, my dream. Steve Jobs is a great example because he had a lot challenges like dropping out his college and leaving his company. If he had given up, we would not have a smart phone. When I was in the first semester in my university, I took a low GPA, but I worked hard to raise it.…
