Four Year College Scholarship Essay

I remember being a freshman in high school thinking about what I wanted to be in life and what college I would end up at. Although it crossed my mind I didn’t put much thought into it. Little did I know that time was going to fly by. Next thing you know I began to receive acceptance letters as well as rejection letters from colleges I had applied to. Out of nine colleges I applied to I was debating between four: UC Riverside, Fresno State, San Francisco State University and West Hills Community College. Thinking about where I wanted to go was very overwhelming and stressful. I was only seventeen going on eighteen and I had to start thinking about what I wanted to do with my life, it felts as if I was running out of time. If I was capable of getting into a four year college I might as well go for it right? Well, at least thats what I thought until I found out that I had received a scholarship for the community college. This scholarship would pay every cost that had to do with my tuition up to my textbooks. Of course I thought about it for a brief second, but I couldn’t settle so I decided to not take the offer. Also, I decided to not tell my mom about the scholarship that I had received. I knew that if I were to tell her she would do the impossible to get me to go there. Part of me wanted to tell her just for the simple fact that I felt accomplished but I couldn’t. Although I know my parents don’t make much income, I knew I could take out loans to help pay for school. There’s also other sorts of financial help. That narrowed it down to three. I decided to narrow it down to whether I wanted to go to a UC or a CSU, but honestly I just wasn’t interested in going to a UC. For some odd reason I felt like a CSU would benefit me more in the future. And then there was two, Fresno State and San Francisco State
