Progress Throughout the 2014 fall semester at the University of Evansville, I was enrolled in First Year Seminar with the topic title being: Sex, Love, and Lust. I enjoyed the class very much and I am very glad that I decided to take it. Throughout the course we wrote four papers, including a narrative, a response, a synthesis, and an argument. Each was difficult in its own way, but I managed to work through the issues I was having in the writing process and pull out with what I feel are really good grades. Each paper got more difficult as more texts got introduced, but it only led to a more accomplished feeling as each paper was completed. Throughout the short fall semester in First Year Seminar 111, I felt that I grew as a writer. I feel as though I was already a pretty good writer coming into college because my high school English teacher really pushed us to do the best, but there is always room for improvement. I feel that peer review workshops, planning, and the class itself have all helped me improve as a writer. Every time we would write a paper, with the exception of the very first one, we would have a peer review workshop where we would read and edit other students’ papers, and receive comments on our own paper. It was nice to receive comments from my peers and see how they felt about my paper and if they had any suggestions. While a lot of the peer reviews I received were not very detailed and just answered with a “yes” (and occasionally a “no”), I still…
