Achieving Success in College
Mike assumed college was going to be easy and similar to high school, but his mind set completely changed once he received his report card. College may seem overwhelming to freshman students, but they should not forget their main purpose of why they are attending college. Most importantly, students should focus on developing habits that will help them succeed college such as turning assignments on time, communication with professors and becoming familiar with their college resources.
Turning in assignments on time to avoid falling behind in class and keep away from failing is important for freshman college students. For instance, certain students might find this the toughest of all because in high school they were used to having reminders from teachers about due dates all the time, or even sometimes teachers nagging students to turn assignments in. The case is definitely different once attending college. Students are practically on their own and have to become more responsible to be their own reminder for class work. However, procrastination plays a huge part in a student’s success due to assignment due dates. A student may wait until the last minute or sometimes not even do the assignment at all. Professors may say turning in an assignment is better than nothing, but the best thing to do in certain situations is turn it in on time and reach the highest potential possible for that assignment.
