Hi, I’m Anna and I’m a senior at Joliet West who has a lot of friends, I have good grades on my transcript- mostly all As and Bs (I got a C like two or three times, never Ds or Fs), I been on the honor roll and high honor lists, I participated in a lot of extracurricular activities at Joliet West High School- I was in Choir, Speech Team, Chess Team, Scholastic Bowl, Leo club, and Key club, and my future plans after high school involve me going to Joliet Junior College for two years where I am going to try to get a GPA around 3.8 and 4.0 or higher so, I can get accepted to a very good school like Yale University and Georgetown University where I was thinking about having a major in political science/government with a concentration in Pre-Law.

During the first grade at Troy Heritage Trail Elementary school, my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Scarcelli noticed that I had some difficulties- I had a hard time learning in her class. So, she called my parents, and gave us some suggestions, and contacts to get extra help in order for me to do well at school. Then, my parents followed up and my road to overcoming my learning disability began. When I was in the 5th grade at William B. Orenic Intermediate School, I started taking Special Education classes since my school didn’t offer those kind of classes at the time, and the school only had one teacher classes or co-taught. My 5th grade teacher, Ms. Geggenheimer was great. I excelled at mostly everything because of her. As the years went by, I kept getting out of more and more special education classes and I got put in harder classes. I also kept getting good grades and I kept getting on the high honor list and the honor roll list because of my good grades. I think that I have come a long way learning how to deal with my disability, and I’ve met and accomplished many of my goals. For instance, I was named Troy Middle School’s Student of the Month in 8th Grade a month before I turned fourteen, and I was in the ten percent out of the entire freshman class at Joliet West to get an award for academic achievements. Well, I’m not really good at taking standardized tests, but I’ve improved. All of my hard work throughout the years were paying off. After I graduate from high school, I am going to Joliet Junior College and then I am thinking about transferring to Yale or Georgetown
