However, having my goal set during that time, I had the motivation to better my academics. So by the end of my sophomore year, I gained my rights in my class’ top 10 percent. Then by the second semester of my junior year, I earned a ranking in top 5 percent and raise my GPA to a 4.1. The way I was able to do such a thing was by earning myself all A’s and some B’s in my classes. For extra-curricular activities here on campus, I joined many clubs that helped me better myself and hopefully to become one step closer into achieving my goal. Each of these clubs taught me valuable lessons to becoming a better person. Being an all-around athlete, I participated in many sports like baseball, soccer, track and field, football, tennis, and basketball. Sports have taught me some great characteristics such as determination, motivation, discipline, persistence, focus, and to be adaptive to help me reach my goal in the future. Although, I experienced a car accident that, under doctor’s orders does not allow me to play some physical sports, I still have the chance to play baseball. Baseball has probably taught me the most important life lessons, due to the fact that just playing the game allows any athlete to discover the person within themselves. I have so much love for this game, and no matter how old I get I will always remember quotes that professional players have said. For instance, Derek Jeter, retired short-stop for the New York Yankees, once said, “There may be people that have more talent than you, but there is no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do”. Those words, that one of the people I look up to most in the MLB said, impacted my life because this information can help you with anything in life. It does not just have to be baseball, but can be used with anything especially to reach your goal.
