With this being said, teachers will be spending more time at school which means more hours, so they are less likely to need a second job in order to make a comfortable life for themselves. There are also several other benefits to school administrators and faculty, like feeling ownership of the transition process and support by their colleagues and reducing professional stress and burnout. At Green Meadow Elementary School, which transitioned to a year round schedule in 2005, teachers felt support in many ways from the county, the school administration, and fellow school colleagues who “all shared the school 's vision and mission revolving around the students and the modified calendar.” Teachers at this school all felt a decrease in stress, which helps everyone involved with the school, and according to the assistant principal they were less likely to be absent during school. This also benefits the students as the assistant principal noted, “Because they [teachers] get frequent breaks, teachers don 't need to take off as many mental health days. The faculty can remodel the building if necessary during a break, or move furniture as well. Due to all of these options presented to the faculty during the break in the school’s schedule, the school building will be used more effectively instead of just sitting around for two to three months. Teachers could also use this break time for voluntary tutoring sessions for students that may be struggling to prevent them from falling behind even more than they already may be, and to start on remediation as soon as possible instead of waiting until the student might not be able to catch up with their classmates. This would be a great use of the building during break as Darryl Taylor, the principal of a year round school, remarked, “‘Having three months off in the summer isn 't appropriate anymore, especially when you consider children who come to school who are already behind ... because of their home environment or [undeveloped] language skills”’ (Barton).
