Importance Of Art In High School

I have been in school for 15 years, and from a young age I was always interested in art of all mediums. I grew up drawing and practicing all the time. Everyday I drew something in a notebook instead of going outside or playing video games. These early years of my life would be the stepping stones for what I wanted to be when I got older which was an “artist.” At the time I was not sure what I wanted to do specifically, but I knew it had something to do with art. Growing up I had always excelled in art classes but discovered that I wanted to be more than be a traditional artist and when the time to apply for high school that opportunity was presented to me. Eighth grade is when I applied to Mckinley Vocational High School and got accepted into …show more content…
I became vaguely familiar with DSLR cameras, Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator making books, calendars, flyers, and logos for local schools. I was doing everything I wanted to do learning things I was interested in. When I applied to colleges I Applied to SUNY schools that had Graphic Design Majors and ended up going to Alfred State College as a Digital media and animation major. I was told that we would explore the world of 2D and 3D animation along with areas of graphic design, photography and videography. After spending 5 semesters in the program gaining knowledge in other programs such as Brackets, Maya, Adobe After effects, Premier, and Flash I decided I wanted to transfer to SUNY Fredonia mostly because of the lack of knowledge I was getting pertaining to graphic design. At this point in time I had become heavily involved with graphic design. I had started doing commission for different companies and personal parties in Buffalo. The work I was doing outside of school seemed to be more influential than what I was doing in school. However, I combined both to make what I was doing stronger as a …show more content…
For a while I wanted to work for the design Departments of big companies like in Nike or Adidas things that I was familiar and by this time i was being heavily influenced by fashion but after thinking about it over the years I had come up with the idea of starting my own clothing line something that represented me and the art that I liked or was influenced by. I guess I could say a long-term goal for me would be to have the brand that I started be successful on a larger scale outside of where I 'm from. take a lot of influence from Brand such as human made, the Madbury Club, why 3, bathing ape, Supreme comma and other of they use graphics as the stronghold for their work. Along with that I also want my graphic design career to take off I want to start off somewhere like Content Central in Rochester, New York and hopefully make my way up to the top of a design company becoming an art director. These two goals are my primary long-term goals I could see myself being heavily involved video, music, or even illustration as my skills progress. I guess I could say that my long-term goal is to be well-rounded in several different fields of art and being able to apply them successfully in everything I

My passion for art has followed me since I was five years old, when I was inspired by my kindergarten art teacher, who told us we could paint grapes whatever color we wanted. However, when I moved to a different elementary school, the art teacher stripped us of that freedom. She was very cold and made people dread going to art class, including me.…
