The day was Monday, February 1, 2010. I left my house for work in the morning, and got on time as usual. The day seemed to progress as usual until I got a meeting request from my supervisor. I finished what I have started, and headed to the little conference room where the meeting was scheduled. I had never gotten such meeting requests from my boss. Our previous meetings have always been pre scheduled. So what is the agenda for this unscheduled meeting? My boss was already in the meeting room waiting for me. As soon as I got in, I asked how things were. He did not directly answered my question, and proceeded to the agenda. Co-facilitated session plan For the purpose of this assignment, I propose to approach the hypothetical planning of a co-facilitated session with another party in three stages; pre-session, during the session and post- session. Pre-session I would consider the pre-session planning of a co-facilitated session with another party to be an imperative part of the process. As we would both need to work collaboratively throughout the process to help the group achieve goals, the main objective would be for us to meet well in advance of the meeting in order to get to know each other and establish a trusting and respectful relationship, whereby we would welcome constructive feedback and have the ability to work through any differences which may arise.…

Students entering the classroom bring with them their metaphoric ‘virtual schoolbag.’ Educators should be aware of Thomson’s theory on this subject, as it suggests that the ‘virtual schoolbag’ includes all that the child has already learned from outside of the educational setting. However, if students are socially disadvantaged they may not be requested to access their ‘virtual school-bags’ as their inherent knowledge and skills may not be required within the school setting (Thomson, 2002, p.9). This depends on the social and cultural ‘capital’ of the child (Thomson, 2002, p.8). The socioeconomic status of their family within society will determine the value of the child’s virtual school bag within an educational setting.…
