Reflection About English 101

English 101 was mostly similar with my high school English class, but at the same time, it was different. In English 101, most of the topics were personal narratives; they were about my experiences and were easy to write. The most frustrating part of ENG 101 was the long essays towards middle semester to the end. I would be stuck after writing three pages and would go back and forth to make the writing reach the page limit. My responsibility was to arrive to class on time and complete the work on time. I would break up the writing process so that I would not have sit down and write the essay in one sitting, at the last moment.
COM 101 was a new experience for me. It was like baby steps to public speaking. The most satisfying part would be the feeling of relief after finishing my speech. I gained confidence to speak in front of people and not to sound as nervous as I felt. That being said giving speeches was also the most frustrating part of the

The most satisfying part of CHM 105 was that I understood what was being taught. The most frustrating part of CHM 105 would be getting tests back, finding out that how tiny mistakes had caused me to lose points that I could have easily made. My responsibility was to keep track of my reading and the homework. Chemistry was not my favorite subject but I had put a lot of effort to stay on track and to learn the concepts.
Lastly, BIO 203 was the first science class that I had taken in my first semester here. The most satisfying part of Microbiology was the lab part of the class. In lab we would see many organisms and bacteria in the microscope. I got to see the concepts come to life. The frustrating part was finding out later that BIO 203 doesn’t count towards a science credit. My responsibility was to study every night and know the coming lab well enough that I could remember the details on the quiz.

Throughout this whole quarter, I would say that I have learned a lot in this class. Not only that I learned what is in the syllabus but also the importance of being able to apply my understandings on a problem. I believe that the instructor did a great job in addressing the learning outcomes in this class by helping us in understanding the concepts that we need to learn in order complete this course. One of the learning outcomes of this course is that each students should be able to describe, interpret and predict the propagation of energy via waves, using applied conservation of energy principles. Before this class, I have learned about the law of conservation of energy in PHYS221 with Micheal Greiner.…

The first time, I enrolled in this class, I felt excited knowing this class would help on my grammar, so I can become a better writer. My first thought that cross my mind was this was going to be easy and it was. My last experienced with writing and English was okay because I mainly get a B or a C, but rarely I would get an A. I always been having trouble with grammars. My high school English teachers taught us about grammars and how to become a better writer. It was similar to what you had taught us in class because we always learned about grammar out of a book and we got tested after we been practice.…

This English 101 class has helped me in variety of ways in gaining and shaping skills in writing. I learned how do compose several types of essays including: professional, informal, casual, cause and effect, and argumentative and was given the format for writing these. Every week, the class was given one of these types of essay to write and throughout the class periods, I would start and finish them. I saw that if I outline these essays with key points of my topic before I officially being writing the first draft, an essay is not difficult to come up with. I would only have to include transitions, which I also learned, and maybe a few more sentences to make my ideas connect properly and flow smoothly.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 1010 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. When I first started this course, I was scared and didn’t really know what to expect. I branched out to different styles and types of essays as well as incorporating outside sources into my work. When I received my first essay back with the feedback and the grade, I realized that I was not a really good writer.…

Based on my prior experience in honors english for two years, AP English Language and Composition, and AP Literature, English 101 honors is the best fit for my experience and my level of meticulous and strategic writing at this point. Writing and reading have always come easy to me in school; whether reading to write a book review for the class or reading for the AP exam, I have excelled with high honors and the highest remarks from the faculty on my writing and style. English has always been one of my best subjects. Most of my english teachers were pretty impressed with my writing skills and with my advanced vocabulary for my age. My 9th grade english teacher even thought that I should get into writing, whether as a blogger or as an journalist.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

Throughout the entirety of this English 101 course, I have seen my skills as a writer grow. In the beginning of the school year, my writing fell short of my expectations, but as I continued to work and learn the principles of writing, I have written papers that I am proud to say are mine. Among the aspects of my writing I have improved, the best strives are seen within my my counter arguments and overall strength and coherency of my papers. To begin, when looking at a paper I wrote in August on necessity of first drafts, there were large gaps in my elaboration, bringing concerns as to whether I was arguing and proving a point or merely summarizing what Lamott, the author of the article, originally said. When attempting to argue my evidence, I stated,…

My Experience at Wake Early College of Health and Sciences Applications and The Decision In August of 2012, I started Wake Early College of Health and Sciences. I learned about the school from my former middle school, West Cary, and I started learning more and more about it before I applied. Wake Early College and STEM Early College came to my middle school to give a presentation on the schools, and my dad was taken away with how great Wake Early College was. I, however, liked STEM more because it was at North Carolina State University, and I knew that if I could do well in the high school classes and college classes mixed there, then I would have a great chance of getting into NCSU.…

English 101 taught me how to be more creative and broad about writing. Example on Essay 1 I didn’t really mention anything about Sonia Sotomayor’s mother not wanting her to work, and behind that was facts and important information about he context that I missed. I also approach my assignments differently now; I make sure my paragraphs are structured in the write order for an easy read for the reader. I realized when I start off with a good approach on a topic I have to tools and skills learned in class to expand ideas and write a solid piece of writing to read. I did also realize that I am bad to start off with, I haven’t seemed to find that spark to start me off right, so I guess that’s why they call it a shitty first…

Two classes met this goal, Introduction to Psychology (PSY 111) taken at Anne Arundel Community College, and Introduction to Counseling Psychology (PSYC 432) taken at the University of Maryland University College. Introduction to Psychology was the first psychology course I took many years ago. It was the class I took because I had an empty slot on my schedule.…
