When I first arrived at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, I had a few ideas in mind about what I wanted to do with my life after graduating. There were a few different careers I had and still have interest but I did not know what career would fit me best. I was not too stressed about it, considering that I narrowed it down to a couple ideas. From taking this course, my goal was to figure out what I want to pursue in my future career or careers. I wanted to figure out which direction would be better for me. There were a few myths that I also learned about from this course. I thought my future career had to match my college major. After taking the course and my interview, I now understand this is simply not true. I plan on becoming a math …show more content…
My Holland Code was SIC, which stands for being social, investigative, and conventional. Enterprising was also a close third place. After receiving this code, I found the careers that fit the most were along the lines of Education. I was debating about going into Education before coming to college so when I figured it fit my personality; it made me push to find out more about Education. My MBTI or Personality Styles Assessment code is ESTJ or ESFJ (I was split eight and eight between T and F). The E stands for being extraversion, or being relaxed and confident, understandable, being an after thinker, and wants variety, action, and working with others. The S stands for sensing, or being practical, thinking of living life as it is, uses learned skills, pays attention to details, and makes few factual errors. The T stands for thinking in how we make decisions while the F stands for feeling. The thinking aspect simply means someone bases decisions off of logic, focus on things, truth, or principle, solves problems, and treats others fairly. On the other hand, making decisions with feeling means someone focuses on people or harmony, support others, and acts personally. I am both of these. Lastly, the J stands for approaching life by judging. This means I am planful, decisive, focus on completing tasks, and only wants the essentials of the job. I think this code displays my …show more content…
I will continue to research Secondary Education and Criminal Justice. I want to find the places that are in need of teachers. I also plan to sit in on a classroom over Christmas break. She is a middle school math teacher and also the woman I interviewed. She asked if I wanted to come in and I am very excited. She also said I could help out during some activities and such. I also plan to maybe ask her a few more questions about what it is really like to be a teacher and a coach. As far as Criminal Justice, I plant to do some more ride-alongs with my aunt over the summer. The first time I did one it made me more interested. Although she said it was a “boring” day, I still thought it was interesting. After realizing where my interests fall at this point, I plan to join some clubs on campus such as the Student Wisconsin Education Association and Criminal Justice Association. I cannot wait to learn more about my future in

When we did this activity I felt nervous since I realized that I really had no idea as to what I wanted to major in, but once we started filling out our goal sheets I felt confident that this class would help me greatly in choosing a major which it did. This class has taught me that some of my beliefs about choosing a career or major were myths. I use to think that whatever you majored in would be what you do for the rest of your life. When that is not the case just because you major in something doesn’t mean you will be doing that for the rest of your life.…
