When I first arrived at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, I had a few ideas in mind about what I wanted to do with my life after graduating. There were a few different careers I had and still have interest but I did not know what career would fit me best. I was not too stressed about it, considering that I narrowed it down to a couple ideas. From taking this course, my goal was to figure out what I want to pursue in my future career or careers. I wanted to figure out which direction would be better for me. There were a few myths that I also learned about from this course. I thought my future career had to match my college major. After taking the course and my interview, I now understand this is simply not true. I plan on becoming a math teacher, which means I have to major in math. Although, if I major in math, there are many other careers I can go into besides coming a math teacher. I also learned that you can learn a lot about a career without actually working in it. I have already learned a lot about careers I am interested and I have not actually worked in any of them. My interviewee did advise me to get in a classroom as soon as possible to get a better feeling of what it is like to be a teacher. I plan to do this over winter break. I have learned a tremendous about from taking this course.
