Graduation Speech : North Texas Essay
Some of us knew coming into UNT that we were going to be teachers. I was part of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program in my high school where students from different colleges around the area came in and tutored us in different areas. Several of the tutors were UNT students and when I told them that I wanted to be high school math teacher, they told me about this interesting program called teach north texas. They told me that this program was specifically for teachers who wanted to teach high school math or science. Fours years later here I am, celebrating with all of my fellow TNT members and staff.
And some us had no idea that this is where we would end up. Myself, I was just here to study biology. And then one day, a poster caught my eye. The next thing I knew, I had been drawn into this awesome world of teaching. Teach North Texas made me realize that I didn’t just love science, I also loved the idea of teaching our future generations how to use their minds, think critically.
