They are always either working on math or writing, and I haven’t been able to see them learn a new concept. There has been other material that they have been doing every week when I come back, though, and he always has new techniques on how to learn and go over it. For example, he was having them write numbers in expanded and standard form, and he would write an example up on the board, and then they each wrote their answers on a dry-erase board. We would both walk around the room and check to see if their answers were right. The week before that, they were working on line segments and angles. With that, they did a worksheet on that instead of using dry-erase boards, and I ended up checking their papers. I feel relaxed when I am there, and I feel comfortable being in that atmosphere. I knew coming into this that it takes a lot of work being a teacher, but it surprises me how much extra work they actually have to put into school. There is so many things that have to be done, and it can get very stressful. I’m not even a teacher yet, and it kind of makes me stressed out. Seeing and actually being in the teaching environment makes me realize how much I really love working with children. It made me realize that I am going to have to be more creative while coming up with lesson plans in order for the students to learn and understand. My only concern that I have right now is that I am going to get stressed out about it so much, that I won’t end up liking it anymore. I love teaching and I love children, but sometimes I just ask myself, “What if?” I don’t want ever want to have doubts about it, and I just hope that I keep going on and continue to love every second of
