After successfully completing my SATs, I attended a secondary school which was also located in Wollaton. This school was also a high achieving and strict school in regards to behaviour and discipline. I felt very fortunate to have attended these schools as they were very reputable. However, during my school years in both primary and secondary, I always felt a little alienated as I felt I didn’t have much in common with my peers. The pupils in both schools were predominantly white, middle-class pupils; whereas, I was a working-class, Asian student. This affected my socialising skills during my school years and also affected my educational attainment slightly. I do feel my attainment would have been better in primary and secondary school if I …show more content…

It also helps teachers stay organised and increases efficiency. I personally believe I work better with a structured framework as it helps me plan effectively and maintain control of tasks. Another advantage is that although the national curriculum is structured, it leaves room for teachers to be creative in the way they teach the subjects provided. It allows teachers to go above and beyond the basic requirements of the national curriculum. Thus, I am looking forward to identifying which teaching methods I will work with best. I understand that my teaching style will affect the children’s learning and thus, I aim to use a variety of teaching techniques in order to meet the needs of all …show more content…
Personally, my main aim and focus as a teacher would be to meet the needs of all the pupils in my class. I have always been intrigued about the educational achievement gaps of different social groups in society. As a working class, female, Pakistani pupil, I feel as though I can relate to a variety of different pupils in a classroom. This will help children feel less isolated and more part of a team. I hope to be a role model for all pupils, but particularly for girl’s whose culture may conflict with their future aspirations. I believe there has always been a lack of ethnic minority teachers in UK schools and therefore, this had always motivated me to become a

According to the Learning Styles Inventory. My most developed and strongest learning styles are bodily-kinesthetic, verbal-linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The test reveals that I am not highly developed in any particular type of intelligence and I am weak and underdeveloped in visual-spatial, logical-mathematical, and naturalist intelligences. The book suggests that as a person with stronger interpersonal strengths, study strategies such as going over notes with fellow students are helpful. Based on my results as a strong verbal-linguistic individual, rewriting my notes in order to eliminate excess information and to hone into the important ideas, would be beneficial to my success in this course.…

My results from the VARK learning style inventory were strong in auditory and read/write. The results from Felder’s Inventory were strong in sensing and visual. A common stereotype of a teacher is that they have a role which includes them walking into a classroom, teaching the lesson that they have planned before releasing the pupils for their next lesson and repeating the same role with their next class. People can be quite naïve to the expansive list of issues that teachers deal with every minute of every day. Over a teacher’s career, they encounter regular issues such as; differentiation, progress, children with special educational needs as well as issues that have become increasingly important over the last few years including safeguarding and radicalisation issues. Not only have both of these increasingly concerning but talking and preventing these issues is a high responsibility in itself making…

When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…
