My parents trusted me to maintain good grades and get my work done without having to constantly pester me about school. I never had any serious problems in school so they never had to attend teacher-parent conferences. During high school my grades started to slip and my parents began hassling me about my homework more, but it got to a point where they knew they couldn 't make me do what I didn 't want to, so they trusted me to get into college on my own. Now that I am in college my parents are letting me figure out things on my own. They know that because this is my future and because I am dedicated to getting excellent grades, that they do not have to worry about me succeeding in college. Though I am very interested in succeeding in college, I was not involved in any extra-curricular activities in high school. None of the clubs interested me and I didn 't feel like devoting my time to them. Now that I am at USF I have found multiple clubs and organizations that interest me. I have to find clubs that fit my academic schedule, but I definitely plan on getting involved around campus. I especially want to begin volunteering …show more content…
There was a point in time where I wanted to be an Early Childhood Education teacher (A Preschool teacher), but then I realized that they make little to no money. I do believe in picking a career that you’ll be happy with for the rest of your life, but if you are not making a wage that supports future plans, then you will not be truly happy. When it came to choosing what I really wanted to do with my future, no one in my life had a huge impact in my career decision. I found two things that I enjoy, children and psychology, and combined the two. My aunt is a School Psychologist, but she didn 't have an influence on my decision. My parents have always told me to pick a career field that I’ll be happy in. Furthermore, because I already knew what I wanted to do as a career I immediately knew I wanted to major in psychology. I am currently debating double majoring or minoring in International Studies and/or Early Childhood Education. I debated minoring or majoring in Environmental science because I really care about the environment, but there are a lot of science courses needed that I knew would be very difficult for me to pass. My dream is to become an environmental and human rights activists and I believe having a minor or double major in International Studies would really help me
