Summarize My Career Goals

Improved Essays
If I could summarize my career and day to day goals they would be to create, inspire, and achieve. In whatever circumstance that may be. As I reflect on the time that I have already spent at Western Kentucky University, my professors and peers have helped me to do exactly that. From both the encouragement and the discipline I have learned as a student, I have grown as a person and a dancer. I believe that the outcome of the dance program is not only the degree, but life lessons and knowledge to excel in the real world. My long term career goals include performance and owning and operating my own studio/company. After college, I hope to perform and begin adding various professional endeavors to my dance resume. I would love to dance professionally …show more content…
I am pleased with the performance opportunities that have already been offered during my time here, and the professionalism of each concert. In addition, the rehearsal process has encouraged me to obtain professional attitudes and habits. I also expect this degree to increase my knowledge on choreography and pedagogy. While I have had limited experience with teaching dance and choreographing, I have not been taught these trades in a serious and professional manner. Therefore, I look forward to learning and practicing the trades that the dance program has to offer. It is probably one of the most exciting aspects of my education to this point. While also being in a mentoring and encouraging setting between faculty and peers. In addition, this program has a lot to offer within the company and the National Dance Education Organization. This organization not only is about dance outreach throughout the community; it allows me to apply the things I have learned and offers many leadership opportunities. While brainstorming about events and fundraisers, there is expectation of professionalism and bringing my own ideas to the table. I enjoy that this dance program allows students to not only learn, but apply what one learns to better the dance community. Loud beats, shouts and footsteps fill my ears, and an awful stench of sweat makes it’s way into my nose, but this dance studio is a special place nonetheless. It may seem hectic and rowdy to some people, but not to me. An environment I entered so cautiously at first started to become natural and safe. I had never thought I would spend so much time in this place doing something I loved. I would not forget how the first day went.…

The short interview with Lauren Anderson is so inspiring that gives me an insight into passion and success as well as motivates me to persist in following my dream. Anderson’s story of her career as a principal ballerina seems quite simple and typical as she started early at seven, soon became a principal dancer of Houston Ballet, and then now is giving back to the society by teaching ballet to children of “underserved” community. However, I believe behind that story are all strenuous efforts and untiring perseverance along with her outstanding talent that kept her lifelong dream alive and made it come true. I can feel in her a great passion for the ballet career in every word she said and every story she told. Because ballet is hard and highly…

Describe your educational and career goals and explain what or who has inspired or helped shape these goals. During my high school years, I recall working in the fields during vacation breaks with my mother harvesting tomatoes, picking up cherries, and pruning grape vines. Fascinating as it sounds, I was always intrigued to understand why fruits and vegetables spoil or often cause food poising in humans. Although, when I questioned my mother why these fruits spoil, she responded it was due to "little bugs," which was not a sufficient response.…
