Graduation Speech: Modern Day Catch Up

It was another quiet Saturday night in the Rogers-Barnes household. James and Steve were sitting together on the couch drinking beer and eating some popcorn. Just relaxing together, something they were trying to do every weekend. Their puppy, Bandit, was sleeping peacefully on his bed near the couch. James and Steve were currently working on Bucky's "Modern Day Catch Up" list. They were onto the tv show portion of the list. Right now they were on the third season of NBC's Parks and Recreation. It was one of Bucky’s favourite TV comedy tv shows but, he wasn’t even paying attention to it right now. He was too busy looking up at Steve, listening to his breathing. He knew that he was not responsible for his actions. And Bucky was finally starting to think that way too. This trial could really mess up his recovery and that is what scared Steve the most. Bucky is going to have to relive all the details again.

He wish he could see Bucky, but Bucky said that he didn't want visitors until the day of the trial. Steve let out a long tired sigh and collapsed into bed. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

+Day 1 of trials+

Steve, Sam, Natalia, Clint and Matt all arrived at the cell they were keeping James locked it early that morning. They wouldn't be able to visit long but they wanted to bring James his suit. Sometimes Steve was happy to be Captain America. Some perks like being able to see his boyfriend before his trial.

And James looked a mess. His hair was longer than it's been in the last few months. He wasn't clean shaven. He had ringers under his eyes. It even looked like he had lost some weight. It hurt Steve's heart.

“I look worse than I am.” James said his voice rough. “Just visual.”

Steve nodded looking at him then at Sam. “Sam is going to help you get your suit on. Clint, Matt and I are all going to talk and figure out what is going to figure out what the best plan of attack.”
