There’s no rush to be anywhere, so you slowly you start to stretch, yawn, and roll out of bed. Strolling into the bathroom, you discover there’s no need to brush your hair, for it’s falling perfectly at your shoulders. Turning, you exit the bathroom and casually make your way down the stairs to find your parents making breakfast in the kitchen. “Everyone else is out on the deck, we’ve made you some hot chocolate, oh and here’s …show more content…

Checking the time, you see just how long you’ve been looking. “It’s so easy to get lost in it all”, your older sister says, “Let’s go get some pizza”. There’s enough for your whole family, so you all decide to go on ride through the town trails. The trails lead you to a dead end, “Let’s hike it” you say. The trail takes you on a breathtaking hike, the views are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. You end up at a beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains. Heading down to the lake you see there are canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards laid out nicely for the borrowing. Your family paddles around the lake for a while, fishing a exploring. We could always wait until sunrise,” Dominic insisted. He was struggling to zip up his jacket, which was restricted by the heavy coat that he was also wearing. By the time they got done complaining, the rest of us had already left the cabin. We had already discussed this trip the day before: If you change your mind, you better say so early on, because the trail was a long way away from the cabin. While we were walking on the paved road leading up to the trail, it finally dawned on me:…

When I wake, I go from darkness to the sunshine erupting in my eyes. I feel the need to get up but my body is working slower than my mind this morning. As I manage to lift myself up from my bed, I quickly remember that today is the day Papa leaves for his yearly hunting trip. Leaping to my feet, I dash to make sure he hasn't left yet. I slowly come to a stop when I see him fast asleep on the floor with an empty bottle of liquor placed in his hand.…

Udit Jain AP English Composition Period 4 Mrs. Moyer Vanquishing a Mountain I woke up early that Sunday morning and made a solid cup of Starbuck’s French Roast. Typically, I’d put two spoons of beans in, but that day I added an extra scoop, reckoning that the additional caffeine would assist me in the event that was going to unfold. I glimpsed over at the shut shades to see the sun’s rays sifting through. With my hot cup of coffee in grip, I trudged across the living room floor towards the window.…

I woke with a start at the obnoxious noise coming from my alarm. It was 9:00 a.m. on a Thursday, in the middle of the summer. Today, I was going to my favorite place in the world: the Tulsa State Fair. I dragged myself down the creaking stairs and into the family room, where I turned on the television. I then ate a bowl of cocoa puffs and went back upstairs to prepare myself for the day.…

My heart broke, and I let out a boisterous groan as the last string trimmer malfunctioned and the weedwhacker slowly churned to a stop. I had been consumed by my thoughts of planning my senior speech, crafting my life plan of becoming a nurse anesthetist, and figuring out what I wanted to eat for breakfast to notice that I was walking so rapidly that I had outworked the machine. It was a humid Sunday morning, the grass was still wet with morning dew when I had abruptly woken up and tied on my decrepit, battered, newly turned green sneakers. As I began the trek to my neighbor’s house the smell of wet grass prudently wafted into my nose. With the exception of my dad there is an evident lack of testosterone in the house with just my mom, twin sister, and I.…

However, this has not always been the case. While college attendance is at an all time high (“College Enrollment and Work Activity of 2016 High School Graduates”), the portion of our population living in the upper class has increased by 50 percent since 1971, and the portion living in the lower class has increased 16 percent in that same time period. Consequently, wealth disparity has made it difficult for the lower classes of Americans to achieve the level of success that the highest class has. In addition, the share of aggregate income held by the upper class has increased from 29 percent to 49 percent.(“The American Middle Class Is Losing Ground”) This means that the richest portion of the population possesses nearly half of the wealth,…

The ray of light from the flashlight casts a luminescent glow on the ground, allowing us to keep a watchful eye on where we are stepping. As we walk, I feel the crunch of breaking thin ice, and the stickiness of the mud under my feet. I smell the crisp, clean aroma of the morning air. We weave our way through the woods trying to avoid puddles of unfrozen water, and logs that are in the way of the trails we have made. Finally, I spot the…

It began as a day like any other. It was a beautiful Saturday; I had spent the entire day cleaning and preparing the yard for visitors. Today was the day that the universally renowned Ixchel was to accompany my friends and I for dinner. I had spent the remainder of my day that wasn’t consumed by either cleaning or yard work preparing a fantastic meal. I served a pork tenderloin covered in a dijon apple glaze, I still remember seeing the steam escaping from the meat and the expressions of ecstasy as my guests ate like it were their last meal, little did we know.…
