Narrative Essay About Choir

A little over a year ago I wouldn 't have ever thought about joining choir. I was a percussionist I thought choir was all about drama and filled with childish people who didn 't really care about any band kids. My older sister sara had joined the choir “signature sound” for her final year of high school. She was a back up dancer for ‘heritage singers” but eventually she moved up to a permanent dancer. She was probably one of the biggest influences on me joining choir another being my closest friend now my girlfriend faith who was always in choir while I was in band constantly having fun arguments about which is better. I guess she was right thinking about it now because I quit band because choir has a much better atmosphere. I can also say i 'm treated with more respect between students and teachers in choir than I was in band. It was like the percussion director …show more content…
we had to wear all black because we were in the tech crew. we were all lined up and ready to go we rushed up the stage and setup everything we needed to and ran off. heritage performed normal songs they performed james brown, sam smith, rihanna, and others they had an opener a ballad and a closer just like show choir but they also have men and women 's songs. they performed and we exited the stage heading back to the rooms to rest until awards. we fast forward to award where heritage placed 4th and signature placed 3rd we were so happy jumping up and down even though it wasn 't first it was our first performance and we knew this was gonna be a good year. we had so many more contests saying goodbye to every saturday we had to ourselves for contest. we had a different score each time some times we would get first place sometimes we would get forth and one time we didn 't even place. I remember our music instructor being handed the plaques after the principle of the school found the in the garbage because our teacher had thrown them

The event that I decided to go was BYU Baroque Ensemble, a production made by BYU students, taking place at Madsen Recital Hall Harris Fine Arts Center on November 3. The idea of making a baroque orchestra is where musician get together to make a perfect composition of music, the baroque orchestra is made up mostly of stringed instruments, when you listen you feel something different that makes you see it from another perspective, you just can’t stop listening and focus on every note that the musicians are playing. The type of instruments that were utilized in conjunction were the basso continuo, played by a viol, cello or bassoon. Other parts were added between the melody and the bass by a keyboard instrument, usually a harpsichord or organ and the development of tonal harmony, in which the melodic voices movement remains under the functional chord progression.…

For the last two years, I have contributed to my Advanced Women’s Show Choir’s success as a performer and as a dance captain. My talent as a dancer and my ability to quickly learn choreography led to my selection as dance captain. This leadership role requires me to be a responsible person, a patient teacher and a supportive team member. Being a part of a nationally top-ranked show choir, I know the requirements of my role, and I was always thrilled to be selected as a dance captain during my junior and senior years. As dance captain, I schedule and lead dance sectionals, helping the girls review the choreography from previous rehearsals.…

Inside the university theatre the crowd was coming in, soon the theater was packed with a variety of people from the community and students. Adrenaline ran through my veins all day, and Disney references spilling out of my mouth like a broken record in a player. No one else accepted my elation, but I on the other hand, had a countdown down for this jaunt as soon as I heard of it in August. As I sat down on the dirty, sweaty gym floor like the rest of the band, I began to process everything that was happening. In 26 hours, 48 minutes, and 28 seconds, according to my countdown, the entire high school band would be in Orlando, Florida. In four days time, our provincial marching band would be featured marching in a parade in the Magic Kingdom of the happiest place on earth!…

Before I knew it, I was having my last performance. The awards were going to be announced, at the end of the concert and I thought that one of the other girls were going to receive the award. This was my perception because I thought that one of the other seniors had deserved more than I had. I thought that there had to have been another member of the color guard who had worked their butts of more than I did and deserved to be recognized for it. As I was contemplating on who would deserve the award, my attention was drawn to the performance area.…

My favorite class was Gospel Choir. There were many people there and if you didn’t have any friends, everyone in Gospel Choir was your friend. We played instruments such as: Piano, Keyboard, Drums, Saxophone and Tambourines, No one needed a microphone, we were loud enough. Sometimes we would break up into small groups and start singing music from other famous artist. Of course there’s always some who’s not shy to sing a solo.…

Memoir Rough Draft While everyone starts to complain about school starting, I was already at school before August for marching band. Day in and day out, all of us worked our hardest, having fun, helping out, and getting to know each other well. It was hot, many times over a hundred degrees, although sometimes it felt worse, as if we were getting baked in the warm sun rays. However, we were there for a purpose, and we all shared a common goal, a dream, to become better as a marching band. Of course we were exhausted, after long hours, but I owe my life to band for making me who I am.…

I don’t fail often. I tend to be good at the things I attempt, usually with little or no effort on my part. I don’t say this to brag about how lucky I am, but to give context. Since I don’t fail often and am generally used to success, the times I have failed make a prodigious impression on me. I am a choir kid.…

I worked tooth and nail to succeed in my academics, piano and saxophone, and any goal I set my eyes on. For public school, since freshman year, I had set my eyes on becoming woodwind captain for my school, J.P. Taravella, and making the all county jazz band. Through over 230 hours of marching band, and countless more hours improving saxophone, I had finally achieved both goals and continued to improve on my craft. This motto of good better best gave me the momentum to never stop trying to outdo myself, and this later also…

I joined the Chorus and the Vocal Ensemble at the high school and continued to try and better myself as a musician. My music department also offered me other musical opportunities such as festivals. I have attended several festivals such as the Lakes Region music festival and the All New England music festival. These festivals allowed me to come together with other students from different schools that loved singing and performing as much as I did. Every time I perform at one of these festivals I am overwhelmed by how beautiful music can be when everyone I am working with is just as passionate as I am about the work we are doing and also extremely talented.…
