"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed - we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal," were the words once spoken by Martin Luther King Jr. His vision was that one day, “little black boys and little black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.” These notions are being regarded in our everyday lives. He spoke with ethos, pathos and logos- appealing to a variety of cultures.…
After coming a long distance from Richmond, Virginia to Washington D.C, my destination was reached. Just by gazing at the deep-rooted bricks and the old cream-colored columns, I knew this was the right place to be. Strolling into the revived Ford’s Theatre and looking at the waxed mannequins it feels like you are travelling back into the 1860’s. I was already amazed by observing all of the various artifacts and depictions and trying to figure out which attraction would interest me the most to record. Since Ford’s Theatre is a very popular site and has many fascinating facts behind it, The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was the most impressive exhibit to me.…
Hello Ms. Marie McGillycuddy How are you today? How is everything coming with the school since hurricane Irma hit the island? Ms. McGillycuddy the reason why I am emailing you is to ask if it is possible for, I to delay my attendance into the ARP program until May of 2018 due to financial hardships. Currently, Ms. McGillycuddy I am working on obtaining the necessary financials need to cover the cost of attendance and living expenses on the island. I currently have $3,500 dollar put aside for my tuition of which $400 have come from my GoFundMe account (https://www.gofundme.com/y2f8h4-medical-education).…
The bomb exploded at exactly 11:45. I stood there, motionless, shock exhibited on every inch of my face. “Run!” Sam ordered, “Now,” he repeated as a stern tone edged his voice. “Ye...yes….sir,” I replied and shakily began to get to my feet.…

I am disappointed. I am not only disappointed in your failure to stitch the loopholes that have emerged in your morals. But I am disappointed that as a community it has come to this. We have disgraced the gift that we had ever so patiently been waiting for. If we can live through such horrific disease as the Plague and make it to a land oceans away with nothing but the clothes on our backs and still make a name for ourselves, then we should not be here.…

MSgt Roark, This past Memorial Day I attended the Atlanta Braves Vs. my San Francisco Giants as a spectator. Usually in the Recruiter world we attend these events and go all out. At only 7 years old, in August of 2005, I received the most devastating news anyone my age could have received. I was told by my family that a hurricane was coming to my city; New Orleans, Louisiana. Because of this storm, Hurricane Katrina, I was told that I would most likely have to move away for a long time; which meant the rest of my life. The hurricane ended up destroying the entire city completely. This was heartbreaking to me for a plethora of reasons, the main one being that I was so young and was just getting a taste of what the rest of my life had to offer.…

When I was in middle school I was very shy. I would have never called myself a leader back then. However, as I matured and entered high school I began to see my true personality emerge. I went from very shy to social and outgoing. I have taken leadership roles when I can to help further learn about leading people in various groups.…
Hello I'm Joshua Zincke from the Houston Chronicle and today I have the honor of interviewing one of the world's most daring men. Today I have John Howard Griffin and for those who don't know Mr. Griffin recently just completed his six week social experiment of crossing the color line into the segregated South. Well Mr. Griffin I'll go right into it and ask the question on everyone's mind why.…
The end of August 2005 is a period of time that many along the entire Gulf Coast area will never forget. Hurricane Katrina, even ten years later, is one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in United States history. Despite the awareness and preparation that is afforded when anticipating a hurricane, the Gulf Coast was severely devastated when the storm made landfall on August 29, 2005. Although there was widespread destruction, the region most decimated by the hurricane was New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina not only left the entire city underwater, it left thousands of people homeless, displaced, or dead.…
Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…
