Graduating with a degree has been one of my dreams ever since I can remember. I was born and raised in Mexico, and right after my high school graduation my parents decided to move to the United states to look for better opportunities for my younger siblings. My parents moved with my 5 sibling while me and my older sister stayed behind. My sister stayed behind with me because I had a dream to fulfill, I wanted to go to the university and fresh out of high school, this was my opportunity. It wasn’t long before I realized that I missed my family, and that paying for school was harder then I thought it was going to be. While my parents helped me as much as they could I still had to keep a full time job and scholarships are not available in Mexico. Then after 3 long semester I dropped out of the university, quit my job and came to Kansas City to reunite me with my family.
Kansas City greeted me with its beautiful weather. So much snow, I had never seen snow like that before. I was excited to see my family, my siblings where already going to school and learning English. It didn’t take me a while to realize that I didn’t fit. I had already graduated from high school and I was almost 20 years old so I couldn’t go to school like my siblings did. Then I decided to find a job, it didn’t come as a surprise to learn that I was supposed to speak English in order for me to find a job.
