Competitiveness in High School
Students go to high school to get an education and to succeed in life. They are driven to achieve through competition against other peers, but, is it really necessary to beat their peers and astonish teachers? Or is it just adding stress? Students realize that they need to be well-rounded with outside activities and have an outstanding GPA and a qualified class rank. Furthermore, competing against one’s classmates can sound very intimidating and could make you indifferent by being controlled by your own parents that gives you lack of credibility. If you’re not deemed to be good enough, it can affect your self-esteem.

I was well aware of what I was doing and I knew that I was capable of doing rigorous work so I wanted to prove to her that I’m up for the challenge. My mom was angry about AP Biology because she thought I was going to fail and I told her that the semester wasn’t over yet. What annoyed me is her checking my grades at every waking moment just to be hostile towards me. My mom tries to monitor and control my grades and what I should make, trying to decide what classes are best for me. For example, she monitors my grades every year to see how I’m doing in my classes and to make sure I’m not failing. If I have a C she will tell me to bring it up before the semester ends. Another example, is deciding what classes I should take so I can maintain my GPA and try t to prevent from taking a hard class that I could easily fail in. s She needs to stop nagging and doubting my capabilities. I know who I am as a human being to know the risk and challenges I take and I should decide on the classes that I am comfortable with. Taking rigorous courses are never easy, but it helps to better yourself and learn ahead to know what the classes are …show more content…
Instead of yelling and scaring them into doing better, it would be better to motivate and encourage them to aspire to obtain their goals. If you compare yourself to evaluate your worth, you will always lose. Therefore, you will never reach a point where you are better than others in every way. The fact is that we focus so much on comparing ourselves to people is that we stop realizing and thinking about our own goals and ambitions. What you have to understand is that you learn from the talents of others. So instead of trying to be better than others, focus your energy on being the very best version of yourself and compassionately redirect your energy and attention to your own goals and what is required to achieve them. Lastly, do a future career that is going to make you ecstatic and make you love your job as a whole overall, don’t get a career that your parents settled you to do and in the end you wasted all your time knowing you don’t love it as much but to only satisfy them for
