What Motivates You, What Are Your Goals

For years the class of 2015 has been asked, what inspires you, what are your goals, what are your aspirations? Finally, we have come to a crossroads in life and an answer must be provided. My most valued lessons throughout my high school career were not taught in a Chemistry lab or math lecture, but rather in the real world, learning to grow as a person and to open my eyes to the beauty and horrors of what was happening around me.
High school provides the perfect outlet to either create a bubble to live within or to broaden your horizons and see beyond the small corner of the world that you have been provided. Sophomore year I was given the opportunity to travel to St. Lucia and instead of pristine beaches, I relished in the beauty and heat

I immediately enrolled in a college level history class for my junior year. My professor taught me about the beginning of culture and civilization, what it took to maintain a culture, and how different cultures intertwined. I now had a greater understanding, but I wasn’t satisfied. For years I had been a dancer, so I decided to study dance in a new way. I enrolled in African tribal dancing classes and yoga lessons that taught me the culture and theory behind the movement. Combining these classes with my understanding of the history of culture, led me to the realization that every civilization had its own rhythm, there was a unique pulse that allowed each to thrive, and I could help to maintain these cadences. When I found the pulse through art and history I was then able to connect it to all other aspects of my education. I saw culture in science, in our theories and viewpoints of how the world worked, I saw culture in Literature in the written works of authors from different regions of the world, and I found culture in math and government and psychology. Everything I studied followed the steady and sure rhythm that culture and society established. Yet the rhythm lacked in some countries that I made it my mission to learn about. The unfortunate truth was that it was harder for culture to thrive in areas that were struggling financially to keep their way of life alive. From …show more content…
I found my outlet in the fair trade industry and my capability to achieve my goal in the education I had tailored to it. Through fair trade, we can help avoid this devastating loss. I aspire to inspire and more people’s affirmative acts are needed to ensure that the world’s existing cultures stay healthy and that the beauty in those cultures that have faded away or are fading are revitalized and reestablished. By establishing inroads with craftspeople and farmers in culturally waning areas and setting up a supply chain, we ensure that struggling workers are provided a steady income that will help them to maintain their way of life and restore the beauty of their

The author of this article is the CBC. This article is about Fair trade, an alternative economic model that is meant to create opportunities for producers who are disadvantaged by the traditional economic model. The author’s argument is that fair trade agreements should be everywhere in Canada, because otherwise, more money would go to the “middlemen” and less to the producer, and it would help out producers in poor countries by providing them with a fair share of money. The first point the author presents is that more money goes to “middlemen” and less to the producer.…

High school is a place for students to explore their interests and find a passion. In addition to my high school curriculum, I participate in many clubs as well as the band organization. My participation in these activities has led me to my passion and discovering what I want to accomplish in my future. My most demanding extracurricular activity is marching band. Pike Central’s elite marching band practices as many as 30 hours a week in the summer months, and 8 hours a week during the school year.…

When I first entered high school, I was terrified, but a little excited. The idea of being surrounded by a bunch of strangers, and being in a new environment made me tremble. When my first day of high school finally came, I realized that it was a much different experience than I expected. There were no teachers really guiding you around, the only person you could depend on was yourself. I learned that more and more everyday.…

At 38 degrees latitude north and 92 longitude west, lies the rural farming town of California, Missouri. This town is rich in cornfields, small businesses, and many churches of all denominations. From the quiet fields, to the busy town square this city is home to 4,341 people. What I believe makes California stand out from the other towns is that it has the “oldest continuously operating fair west of the Mississippi” (Kunze). But the thing that impacts me most about this town is the California High School, it’s staff, and the students.…

“Culture is a fluid set of customs, traditions, beliefs, values, and practices developed over time by a specific group or community” is what I had to repeat over and over again throughout this whole semester. Section R class first learned what culture is throughout our eyes and how other cultures see it too. We watched a variety of short clips of different cultures and what they believed in. In some cultures, we thought that they were insane because we did not understand why they would do that. For example, in early China culture, they practice foot binding.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

The main reason why I think that HACC is the best choice for me is because of the cost. The rates per credit are around $250 and that is for in-state residents. The total cost for a commuter would be around $13,750 for a student who is full time, which means they are taking 12 credits per term (Stager). This price of $13,750 includes the price of books, supplies, food, and transportation and it is an average price for all HACC students (HACC.edu). I think that I could easily cut some of the cost by trying to buy my books online for a cheaper price or even eating at home to save a lot of money.…

I shop like a SAS recruit and rarely go off piste when it comes to purchasing items I hadn’t memorised.…

What do you remember from high school? Friends, sports, pep rallies, standardized tests. You wouldn 't normally think of standardized tests when thinking of things you remember from high school, but for many students that struggled with them in high school it is a large part of their high school experience. We should stop using Standardized tests in Texas schools because they have changed the way teachers teach in a detrimental way, have delayed students’ graduations, add unneeded stress to students’ and put a strain on already tight school budgets.…

Descriptive Essay Nearly everyone had a high school experience, and many people have some kind of college experience. People who experienced both of these know how overwhelming the transition from high school to college can be at first. Dual enrollment is a great example of attending public high school and a community college at the same time and yet finding it to be a confusing contrast. For two places that have a similar purpose, which is to educate, the experience one will have at both places is far more different than one would expect.…
