So theirs those flash backs then theirs those flashes where your walking off the bus and u get their early so your teacher can help you or so that u can study real quick because u didn’t the night before and the fact that they would help us the best they could some of them risking their jobs to make sure we succeed. Then those flash backs that made u stronger because it broke you before like getting called to the office or staying in for break because u messed up or the drama that thru u to the ground and glued u like a 800 pound rock bolted on top of you and the bullies that thought they could put you down or the teachers that didn’t understand you or see how u even made this far those moments you know your teacher is talking about you saying that you won’t make it or that you’re not paying attention and you stand up and prove them wrong because u believe in yourself but there’s one thing that every teacher told you “ u won’t be able to do that or get that when u get to college they expect you to be prepared they’re not going to baby you it’s harder than u think it’s more stressful and you won’t have us to help you you’ll have to do it on your own” then the last day of school came along where they didn’t take attendance and the halls were almost clean because everyone left early and u walk down to the end of the hall and u go to everyone of your classes and remember all the fun memorable times u had in them all the way to the end and you finally made it thru it all your classmates that u grew up with and u walk on stage and get your diploma saying your finally a graduate of East Laurens high school and you throw your cap in the air in all of a sudden it hits you you’re going to miss this no matter how much u hated

For most students, the transition from middle school to high school is the evolution from childhood to adulthood. In my case, my middle school graduation was a quick transition for another reason. The first few months of my freshman year had my parents rushing my grandfather in and out of the hospital because of his failing heart. By this point my grandfather had battled off colon cancer, 3 heart attacks, and 2 open heart surgeries. At age 74 he was not a candidate for a heart transplant but he was able to get a defibrillator.…

I’ve been in school for about 11 years, every year is different, but yet the same. Because we are at the same school for years, it’s the same people, same school, and same everyday routine. Some years are better than others, but the overall best year that I’ve experienced is or was, 8th grade. The fun field trips to places, High School acceptance, and it’s the last year of middle school.…

The rest of the year was great to me, I finally saw the rainbow. I gained many new friends and I was/am doing fairly well in my classes. I overcame an obstacle of mine that was really large, and I am proud of myself for doing so. I finally got to see what it looks like when the clouds part. I went from being a stress mess to a straight success (maybe not success yet, but soon).…

The beginning of eighth grade, in all of its horror and glory. Students in hordes piling up at the front doors, a jumble of frenzied emotions. New people, new clothes, new supplies, new teachers, new schools, new locker, new classes, new, new, new. I could feel the anticipation in the young sixth graders eyes, the excitement in the seventh graders expressions. Then, there was my grade.…

Prior to middle school, I thought I was satisfied with my position. I had friends, got along with my teachers, excelled in sports, and got decent grades in my classes. Back then, I thought this well-roundedness I sought between these necessities would offer me self-satisfaction. Little did I know, however, that I was going to confront this well-rounded nature of mine during my first awards ceremony in middle school. Among the most intelligent, artistic or athletic of the students present there, I was the one of the few who simply struggled to stand out.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…

The school year was ending and I was excited to be going to the fourth grade. Little did I know my mind was shattered once my teacher pulled me aside one day and told me that I had to have a meeting with herself and my mother. During that meeting she broke the news to me and I felt like my heart was snatched from out of my chest, thrown on the floor and stomped on. Many thoughts raced through my mind at that moment, thought like, “How I was never going to move up with my friends,” “How ow my life felt like it was a year behind and I could never catch up,” it was just a huge disappointment to me. Obviously getting held back in the third grade was the worst thing to happen to me, but I eventually viewed it as a challenge.…
