Graduation is one of the most looked forward to event by any teenager. Maybe it is the thrill of walking across the stage and hearing your loved ones cheer you on, or maybe just the joyfulness of making such an accomplishment. Whatever it is, it still holds a great significance in all teenage lives. High school graduation is the most significant event of my life because it gave me a sense of completion, it has proven that hard work pays off and it gave me a greater appreciation for the opportunities I have been given.
My graduation was held on May 18th, 2014, at the South Florida Fairgrounds. I woke up extremely early that morning, even though I could hardly sleep the night before. I woke up to a mouthwatering aroma. Before my eyes could fully open, I shambled to the kitchen, wondering who could possibly be up this early. It was my mom. They were orchids; one of my favorites. They were bright in color and smelled like I had just entered a field of flowers. There was a note attached to it. It read as follows “To my dearest daughter. I can’t believe your graduating high school already. It feels like just yesterday you were a little baby. You’ve grown into such a beautiful and intelligent young lady and I’m extremely proud of you. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to make it. I promise I’ll make it up to you. Enjoy your special day. I love you and I’ll see you soon.
