Hai Zhong dove into the depths of health benefits of a college education. The first obvious reason behind this, is a college education customarily leads to a higher income, therefore, allowing a better medical reassurance to produce an overall better health. However, students of higher education are less likely to smoke or drink excessively. Often it is assumed higher education leads to a higher likelihood for one to partake in these harmful activities, but this is false. “Health is not a one-dimensional variable,” (Zhong, 2015). I used “college worth and economics” as my search. This narrowed down my choices to three articles. In searching this, I found my first peer-reviewed study. This study was written by Robert J. Thornton in 2009. Mr. Thornton named his study “What’s Your College Degree Worth?” This seemed like a promising essay from which I gained a plethora of information. It used simple terms for a new researcher, with little information on the topic, like myself, could find highly useful (Thornton, 2009).
Because of the few results I received in my search, I decided to change my search to supply a greater variety of results. My new search was “college and economics,” a bit wider specifications. This search yielded 7,046 English articles written in the past decade. It was overwhelming. After browsing a few pages of results, I found an article that looked promising.
