Although I am not a physical therapy major, Doctor Permar and the staff at Permar Physical Therapy have two core beliefs to which I adhere. The first conviction is the importance of striving for excellence. This May, I not only officially completed high school, but I also finished my associates degree through dual enrollment and graduated with high honors. Doctor Permar also graduated with honors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, so he understands both the importance of striving for excellence and the level of commitment that is required to succeed in college and in the workplace. The second belief to which the Permar Physical Therapy staff and I both adhere is that it is critical to treat the cause of a problem, not just the symptoms. Back pain is a symptom of an underlying issues, and although an ibuprofen pill might provide temporary relief for a patient, the pain will eventually return because the cause of the pain has not been dealt with. In the same way, pollution and species extinction are sad realities that are often discussed in the news, but these problems will never be solved until the attitudes of people toward the environment
