Graduation Speech: Hi Instructor Berg

Decent Essays
Hi Instructor Berg,

I just wanted to inform you that I am skeptical about my presentation tomorrow, as I am nervous to actually face the class and present. If by tomorrow, in class, I'm yet to adjust, then I may not partake in the presentation. Howbeit, I will be in class and I will try to pay attention as much as I can, and possibly ask questions, if necessary.

What does our past contain? It has an experience, a memory, and we're all given just one. It's breathtaking, unique, and customized to be personal to everyone. No two are the same, and more than often, are vastly different. But no matter how diverse we are, we dedicate four years of our life here together as students.…

Comedian and television host Conan O’Brien gave a commencement speech at Stuyvesant High School for the graduating class of 2006. O’Brien gave the graduates an inspiring speech concerning not only their future as college students, but life as well. However, he still kept the speech humorous with his fast wit. There have been many teachers that have taught me alot, but one very noteworthy friend takes the top spot. I would like to honor Jeff Strobl as the light in the darkness from my deranged junior year of high school. He was not only a teacher, but a mentor that I could talk to about anything. He looks up to me similarly to that of a family member: like a son he never had. Even from the first day we met, he knew I had potential to do extraordinary things in life.…

On Commencement day when I pass through the gates of Porter’s Lodge, I will see the words “Know Thyself” and think back on the ways that College of Charleston helped me discover my true self. During high school, it’s hard to know exactly who I am. College is the time where everyone gets a clean slate and is free to be whoever they want to be. It is the time to discover myself.…

Thank you, President Raab, for that warm welcome, and thank you to my parents for working tirelessly to ensure I had a brighter future, my friends for always being there and supporting me despite my constant sarcasm, and Durim, for being an inspiration for this speech. As I prepared to write this speech, there were so many questions swimming around in my mind. Aside from “how do I even start a valedictorian speech?” one question really kept coming back to me—what made Hunter so great?…

“Get the hell out of my car,” urged my mom with a smile. Wearing an unnecessarily large backpack and reveling in the significance of the moment, I caught my reflection in the window: a young, slender man with “black” skin from my father, “almond shaped” eyes from my mother, and a big smile all my own. My walk turned into a stride with swagger, pleased with what I see. Before my day at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Tecnhnology(TJ), I looked back at mom one last time for reassurance. It was my first day of class; I pushed open the government-issued doors and was transported to the bustling streets of China.…

How can I be a better writer than before? That was my first question I had this semester. I didn’t feel that I can compare my writing with my other classmates who are all their native language is English, or at less lived their life speaking English. There was so much pressure that made me want to be not good enough, but also better than other students. Wherefore, the first time I met Mrs. Ivy, she was nice enough to made me excited about this class.…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

Graduation was a time to celebrate my achievements, to celebrate growing up and maturing into adulthood, to celebrate my friends and family that guided me along the way, and most importantly to celebrate one chapter coming to an end, and another one just beginning. The night before graduation I could hardly sleep as I knew that my high school career would soon be over. I got up that next morning, took a shower, put my makeup on, straightened my hair, and put my favorite black dress on, only this time I had my chords, cap, and gown to go with it.…
